Also known as Wolfberry. This attractive Chinese native features light purple, bell-shaped flowers and bright red berries. The nutritious, sweet and tasty berries are popular in Chinese dishes and are among the highest in antioxidants, have more carotene then carrots and contain all essential amino acids and many minerals. Some call it the plant of eternal life! Attractive 5’-6’ tall shrub, self-fertile and hardy to -10 F. Drought resistant and likes full to half day sun and well drained soil. The berries have been described as a mixture of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry. Fruits in late summer as soon as 2nd year after planting. 3 1/2" potted plant. Zones 5-9.
